SERVICES

Chinese Medicine is a well established system of understanding and treating the body based on the philosophical framework that the ecosystem of the body has parallels to the larger forces of nature shaping our environment:

the microcosm is a reflection of the macrocosm.

Chinese Medicine recognizes the unique constitution and experience of each individual.

What does a session consist of?

Private sessions generally include shiatsu massage and acupuncture plus whatever other modalities are appropriate, we have time for and you are interested in. At the beginning of the session we will talk a little bit so you can tell me what's going on and I will feel your pulse and look at your tongue to get an idea of what your body is saying. Then we will begin treatment.  Acupuncture, bodywork, and herbal medicine are all modalities used within Chinese Medicine. I do cupping and moxa (the burning of mugwort) quite frequently during sessions. I use a lot of herbal medicine. Generally after 2 treatments, I am ready to write you a customized herbal formula or an stand- alone herbal consult can be scheduled. We may also talk about diet, lifestyle and maybe even stretches to see what things you can do on your own to feel better.

How do I prepare for my appointment?

Come wearing comfortable clothing and already having eaten sometime in that day. If you are interested in herbs or guidance regarding supplements, please bring a list of medications, supplements, and herbs you are currently taking.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the temporary insertion of tiny needles to change the body's awareness of itself and promote healing. The needles are filiform (no hollow space so nothing goes in or out of the body,  sterile and used only once. Sometimes you will feel a little prick when the needle goes into the skin or a variety of different sensations but many treatments are completely pain free.

Bodywork
Herbal Medicine

Shiatsu is a Japanese style of massage that works with the same meridians that are used in acupuncture. Shiastu is generally done through loose clothing and may involve some facilitated stretches similar to what is experienced with Thai massage.

Herbal medicine can be of powerful chemical and energetic assistance in healing our bodies and spirits. I use traditional Chinese herbal formulas and western herbs in a variety of forms to heal wounded bodies, clear infections, soothe anxiety and much more.
